Recently,

 I’ve been researching how to control the DJI Pocket 3 gimbal via an external USB controller while outputting HDMI signals in both landscape and portrait orientations. 

I experimented with two different adapter devices, and here is a summary of the actual operation:

1. Use Case:

• Suitable for indoor fixed camera setups with a lower cost.

2. Setup Steps:

• Connect Pocket 3 via a UVC-HDMI dual-mode converter.
• Since it has only one USB interface, an additional USB HUB is needed to split into two connections:
  • One for the Pocket 3 camera
  • One for the USB gimbal controller

3. Disadvantages:

• Requires an external HUB, making the setup bulkier.

1. Advantages:

• Ideal for outdoor mobile live streaming with enhanced functionality.

2. Connection Setup:

• Connect Pocket 3 via the Webcam interface.
• Connect the USB gimbal via the storage interface.
• Additionally supports iOS output, HDMI output, UVC output, and HUB recording.

3. Suitability:

• Highly flexible but comes at a higher cost.

   • For indoor fixed setups: Choose the white model.
   • For outdoor mobile use: Opt for the integrated "Red Box" solution.

Verification of Results

• In landscape mode, gimbal control is smooth, and the image can be switched in real-time via the video switcher.
• In portrait mode, additional settings are required, but a full-screen, black-border-free output is achieved (commercial converters typically have black borders).

Conclusion

By using different adapter devices, the DJI Pocket 3 can flexibly accommodate both landscape and portrait control needs.
